Kofi Kinaata has declared himself the true ‘Artiste Of The Year’ following the crowning of Kuami Eugene as the deserving recipient of the much-coveted plaque at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
According to the ‘Things Fall Apart’ hitmaker, Kuami Eugene knows very well that he is the ‘Artiste Of The Year’ irrespective of the fact that his name is not on the plaque as many had wished for.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kumasi-based Luv FM, the Takoradi-based songwriter stressed that he had wanted to win every category he was nominated for hence he feels very disappointed.
“I am the true Artiste Of The Year and I beleive he [Kuami Eugene] knows it. I know everybody knew I was going to win it and I was confident too. I actaully wanted to win everything and I am so disappointed for not having this one.
Majority of Ghanaians will say is Kofi Kinaata but aside the judges, anything can happen,” he told Dj Reuben
There has been some level of indignation that has greeted the announcement of Kuami Eugene as the Artiste Of The Year. Many believe that although he has worked hard, this year’s award was not his to win. His fans have also refuted these claims vehemently with facts and figures to back their assertion that, indeed, the ‘Rockstar’ needs to rock.
Kofi Kinaata won three awards at the VGMAs, the most by any artiste while Kumai Eugene took him the Highlife Artiste of The Year award and of course the 2020 VGMA Artiste Of The Year award too.
